Huge shoutout to the team at Canal St Veterinary Hospital for coming through for us in a big way! We were visiting from out of town when my service dog Basil decided vacation was the perfect time to feel under the weather. Canal St fit us in on short notice, got Basil checked out, and had him back on his paws faster than I expected. Traveling with a service dog means he’s not just a pet, he’s my partner, and having him sidelined is stressful in a way that’s hard to explain. The staff got that without me having to say much, and they treated both of us with real kindness. If you’re in the area and need a vet you can trust, these folks are the real deal. Basil gives them four paws up, which is high praise from a very discerning dog. 🐾

Dr. Stephany was SO helpful when our new pup got suddenly sick. She was thorough, supportive and kind in helping us understand our options and doing what was within our budget. The whole staff was kind to our dog who had to hang all day and then even called the day after to make sure he was okay. Grateful for their help and support of both of our dogs!!

I cannot recommend Canal Street Vet enough. The staff are amazing and the prices for treatment are fair. After 3 years of receiving care from them for my senior kitty, I had to make the difficult decision to let her go. Dr. Stefanie went above and beyond in her final days to give my best friend of 18 years the most dignity and peace she could've had. You can tell this practice truly cares for their patients.

Have been bringing my cat Salem to Canal St Vet for five years. We’d tried a couple other vets in town when he started having itchy skin issues and he was diagnosed with everything from fleas (another vet kept insisting this was his problem despite him being on meds and my never seeing a flea- I was vaccuuming my house five times a day freaking out) to anxiety. When we finally came to Canal St Vet they got him on prescription allergy-friendly food and a medicine called Atopica. It worked for a while and when it stopped we tried shots, also worked a charm then stopped, and finally we tried an oral pill that works perfectly and has been for years!! I will never forget how grateful I was to the vets for helping us trouble shoot instead of just dismissing us with flea or anxiety medicine. Watching him finally have relief is the best thing ever! He also is FIV+, and had his back hip joint removed back when I first adopted him from the SPCA, and he’s also EVIL at the vet lol. They always handle him with care, treat him with all of his special needs in mind, and are sooooooo sweet to him and love him so much even when he is trying to attack. Lots of churus and reassuring words at the vet and it’s as painless as possible. All of the front desk people and vet assistants are SO sweet, you can tell they all just adore animals. I’ve never waited more than five minutes for my appointment and they are super efficient. There’s also a rescued pigeon in the front which I love and think speaks to their care for animals
